Last week was a meaningful one.
Between Father's Day on Sunday June 15 and Juneteenth on Thursday June 19, our community had two important reasons to pause, reflect, and come together.
As someone who lives and works on the Mid-Peninsula, moments like these remind me why I love what I do and why community has always been at the heart of it.
Honoring Juneteenth
Juneteenth observed every June 19 arks the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans in 1865. It is one of the most significant dates in American history and a powerful reminder of the long road toward freedom and equality.
Here in San Mateo and across the Peninsula, Juneteenth is recognized with growing awareness and intention. It is a day worth honoring not just as a federal holiday, but as a genuine moment of reflection on history, progress, and the work still ahead.
To the Black community in our neighborhood and beyond we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful to be part of a community that stands together.
Celebrating Father's Day
Father's Day on June 15 was a wonderful reminder of the families that make this community so special.
The Mid-Peninsula from Belmont to San Mateo to Burlingame is full of families who chose this area intentionally. Good schools, safe neighborhoods, community events, and a quality of life that is genuinely hard to find anywhere else in the Bay Area.
The dads who are raising their families here, coaching their kids' sports teams, showing up at school events, and building their lives on the Peninsula you are the backbone of what makes this place special.
Happy Father's Day to every dad in our community. We hope your day was everything you deserved.
What Community Means to Us
At The Derounian Duo, we have always believed that real estate is about more than transactions.
It is about the neighborhoods people choose to raise their families in. The communities they invest in. The streets they walk every morning and the neighbors they know by name.
San Mateo has always been one of those places acity with real character, real community, and real long-term value for the families who call it home.
That is why we show up for this community not just when it is time to buy or sell, but all year long.
A Note From Dzovig
I have been proud to serve families across San Mateo and the Mid-Peninsula for over 20 years. Moments like Juneteenth and Father's Day remind me that the work we do is about so much more than real estate.
It is about helping families find their place in communities they love.
If you are thinking about making San Mateo or the broader Peninsula your home or if you are ready to make your next move — we would love to be part of that journey.
